Privacy Policy

By The MSP Playbook
Independent editorial desk
The MSP Playbook editorial desk covers Australian managed services, contracts, pay, and workplace practice. Articles identify the evidence used and distinguish reporting from analysis.

What We Collect

Minimal by design. The MSP Playbook is primarily a static site. We don't have user accounts, comments, or login systems.

Information You Voluntarily Provide

  • Email address β€” if you subscribe to our newsletter. The address and consent timestamp are stored in Supabase for subscription management, then synchronized with Buttondown for confirmation, delivery, and unsubscribe handling. The address is not sold or rented.
  • Anonymous MSP reviews and reports β€” if you submit them through Formspree. They are reviewed for spam, abuse, privacy, and publication suitability before any excerpt is published.
  • Salary-board selections β€” if you use the shared Salary Transparency Board. The board stores only your selected role, location, experience range, salary band, and employee or contractor status. It does not collect your name, email, employer, or free-text comments.

Automatically Collected

  • Optional aggregated page views β€” via Google Analytics 4 (GA4), only on browsers that previously allowed analytics. New visitors aren't prompted, and analytics stays off by default. Google may process technical request data under its own policies.
  • Search queries β€” our client-side search runs entirely in your browser. Search history is stored locally on your device and is not sent to the site.
  • Local workspace settings β€” bookmarks, recent pages, comparison selections, checklist completion, theme, font size, and session preferences remain in your browser unless a feature explicitly says it uses shared storage.

What We Don't Collect

  • No advertising cookies. Optional GA4 analytics may use cookies or similar browser storage after you allow analytics.
  • No user accounts or profiles
  • No intentional collection of names, employers, or free-text content through the Salary Transparency Board
  • No fingerprinting or device identification by The MSP Playbook
  • Third-party processors such as Formspree, Buttondown, Google Analytics, and Supabase may process submissions or technical data under their own terms and privacy policies.

Analytics Choice

Analytics stays off by default. The site honors an existing local choice from an earlier analytics prompt, but no longer shows an analytics prompt or settings link. The choice is stored locally in your browser and isn't sent to the site.

Shared Salary Board

The Salary Transparency Board stores coarse salary submissions in Supabase so aggregate statistics can be shared across devices. Individual submissions are not returned to the browser. Salary aggregates are withheld until at least three submissions support the statistic. Because submissions contain no direct identifier, an individual salary submission generally cannot be located or deleted after submission.

Local Browser Data

The due-diligence checklist, bookmarks, comparison shortlist, search history, theme, font size, and similar workspace preferences are stored locally in your browser. Clearing that browser storage removes them. These features are not shared across devices.

Newsletter Data

Newsletter subscriptions use Supabase for the site's private subscription registry and Buttondown for confirmation and delivery. When you subscribe:

  • Your email and consent timestamp are stored in Supabase
  • Your email is synchronized with Buttondown for confirmation, delivery, and unsubscribe handling
  • You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in every email
  • We do not build profiles, segment by behavior, or track your reading habits
  • The weekly newsletter is prepared as a reviewable draft before it is sent

The MSP Playbook contains links to external sites (Glassdoor, Fair Work Ombudsman, company websites, news articles). We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the GDPR (if you're in the EU):

  • Right to access β€” ask us what data we hold about you
  • Right to deletion β€” ask us to delete your data
  • Right to unsubscribe β€” every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link

To exercise these rights, email hello@mspplaybook.reviews.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it in our changelog.
