IT Salary Benchmark Tool

Use approved, source-labelled salary evidence as a starting point for a pay conversation. The calculator does not embed salary values in the page or infer a market rate from a hard-coded browser table. Advertised salary evidence describes public job listings and isn't presented as actual employee compensation.

Check a benchmark

Choose a role, location, and experience band. Salary evidence is being verified. Results appear only when a current, source-backed evidence set is available for your selection.

Methodology and limits

Results come from approved rows in the server-side salary_benchmarks dataset. Each row must include a source URL, evidence type, salary basis, experience basis, observation date, effective date, expiry date, and sufficient source evidence. A job-advertisement row requires three distinct public listing URLs in salary_benchmark_observations, and its range must be calculated from those observations. A salary-survey row requires a provider-reported evidence point, explicit provider-band mapping, and reviewed display rights. Values aren't displayed when the row is missing, expired, unapproved, or lacks sufficient evidence.

This tool is a research aid, not financial, employment, or legal advice. Compare the benchmark with the full offer, including superannuation, bonuses, on-call compensation, leave, flexibility, clearance requirements, and role scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the salary benchmarks come from?
The calculator displays only approved rows with a source label, source URL, evidence type, salary basis, experience basis, observation date, and expiry date. Advertised salary evidence is labelled separately from employee compensation data. Survey rows use provider-reported evidence points rather than an invented respondent count. No value is calculated from an unapproved browser dataset.
Does the calculator store my salary?
A direct benchmark lookup does not require an email or store your current salary. A report request stores the email and supplied salary with a short-lived, single-use report token so the server can deliver the report.
Is the result a salary promise?
No. The result is research evidence. Advertised salary ranges describe job listings, not guaranteed employee compensation. Actual pay depends on scope, clearance, certifications, total compensation, employer, location, and negotiation.
